Philatelic Exhibition in Žďár nad Sázavou taking place from 2 June 2016 to 5 June 2016

JUDr. Tomáš Mádl with His Excellency Mr. Peter Weiss, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in the Czech Republic, and many other VIP guests. Dr. Vavro Šrobár (1867 – 1950) was a physician, publicist and a leading interwar politician. In the independent Czechoslovakia, he served as a deputy, senator and minister. At the time of the Slovak National Uprising in 1944 he worked as one of the two presidents of the resistance organization of the Slovak National Council. Czech Prime Minister Jiří Rusnok and his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico took auspices over the events organized on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of founding of Czechoslovakia.

Unveiling the memorial plaque of Vlasta Burian and his seals on 7 May 2011





In 1934, the Prague ZOO was given its first seals, named Batula and Huty, by Vlasta Burian. Visitors to the zoo commemorated this festive event on Saturday, 7 May 2011. The bronze commemorative plaque, on which the seals that Burian got from the famous German merchant Hagenbeck from America are depicted, was donated to the zoo by Vlasta Burian Society. Its ceremonial unveiling took place with the participation of Miroslav Bobek, Director of the Prague Zoo, Tomáš Mádl, Director and Managing Director of the Joint Real Estate and Law Firm JURIS REAL, Pavel Holík, a representative of Vlasta Burian Society and the writer Ondřej Suchý on Saturday, 7 May, at 1 pm at the seal’s exposition. Symbolical thanks to the King of Comedians were given by the current seals kept in the Prague Zoo - the male seal Meloun, the female seals Julinka, Abeba and Bára - who showed their skills in the commented exercise.

Ceremonial launch of a postage stamp with a portrait of Vlasta Burian on 8 April 2011 at the Ponrepo Cinema on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the King of Comedians birthday




JUDr. Tomáš Mádl at the ceremonial launch of the stamp, attended by representatives of the Czech Post Office, the Union of Czech Philatelists, the National Film Archive, Filmexport home video and other outstanding personalities. A post office counter was even built at the cinema on this occasion where postal workers stamped mails with a machine postmark made especially for this event. The enthusiastic philatelists thus could obtain a print of the commemorative postmark. The launch was accompanied by film shots from the films with postal themes starred by Vlasta Burian and presented at the cinema auditorium of the National Film Archive, and by a compilation film entitled the „Portrait of the King of Comedians” made in 1987, with a commentary read by the Czech actor Josef Abrhám. The stamp has a nominal value of ten crowns; its author is Pavel Sivko and engraver Jaroslav Tvrdoň.
